Join the Global BDS Day of Action 30 March 2010
The Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) is calling on us to unite in our different capacities and struggles for the second Global BDS Day of Action on 30 March 2010 in solidarity with the Palestinian people and for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel.
The BNC calls on people of conscience and their organizations around the globe to mobilize in creative, concrete and visible BDS actions to make this day a historic step in the movement against Israel’s apartheid, colonialism and occupation, for accountability of the oppressor and for the fulfillment of the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people.
The day of action held on March 30 coincides with Palestinian Land Day, which commemorates the day in 1976 when Israeli security forces shot and killed six young Palestinian citizens of Israel who were protesting expropriation of Palestinian land. Today, Land Day symbolizes Palestinian resistance to Israel’s ongoing land expropriation, colonization, occupation and apartheid.
In the first BDS Day of Action 2009, numerous actions took place in over 40 cities worldwide. Since then, the global BDS campaign has grown. Trade unions, faith-based organizations, student groups and many other civil society movements and organizations have engaged in BDS campaigns aimed at holding Israel accountable for its violations of international law and fundamental Palestinian rights.
In Sweden, we will continue our campaign against the ongoing H&M establishment in Israel. We hope that this campaign can set an important precedent to the present corporate run to establish in Israel. H&M is seriously disturbed by the campaign against them, we have received a lot of positive feedback from consumers and broad media attention in Israel and Sweden, as well as some coverage in many other countries. We have a momentum now that we must maintain and gradually escalate our protests. The recent action against H&M in Paris is a milestone and the protest in Lebanon is the first one that we are aware of in the Middle East. We urge you to include protests against H&M on the 30th of March. We have updated the list of suggested actions here. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
